In order to make money blogging, you must have a constant dedication to your blog's content and promotion. DO treat blogging as an Internet business.

Why don't more people own small businesses? It is because it takes time, money and willpower to open a business and locate customers. Blogging should be treated similarly - as a business. Take the time to learn how to acquire "customers" (SEO) and persuade them to buy your product (advertisements or affiliate programs).

DO research your income options.

Many first-time bloggers look to the almighty advertisement for their only source of income. But there are other ways to make money blogging. Treat your blog like a sonic boom - it gets the attention of people who aren't deaf. In your case, deaf people aren't searching for your targeted SEO keywords while others are. There are many, many companies, some of which only exist to get people to hear the boom and look in their direction. Every webpage "hit" you receive is one more person who hears the boom and is paying attention. To make money blogging, sell their attention! Advertise on your page, consider joining affiliate programs which give you percentages of income from sales of products promoted on your blog, and look for income from marketing programs with businesses who want to capture potential customers' attention.

DON'T try to bite off more than you can chew.

Blogging, from an Internet business point of view, is about the niche. Somewhere in the vastness of the Internet there is a topic about which there isn't much information. Or, there is a topic that has been covered decently, but the pages providing the information have not been search engine optimized. Finding this niche and breaking into a small market is the key to making money from blogging. Trying to break into the market of "shoes" for example, will result in frustration unless you have the financial means to battle the likes of Nike or Reebok. Entering the market for "shoe stores in Milwaukee" may be a more lucrative start.
